Your Charitable Bequest

Planning for the future and creating the legacy you wish to leave is one of the most effective ways to ensure a lasting impact. Making a gift in your will or living trust, known as a bequest, can guarantee that your legacy endures. Your gift may be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate or the remainder after all other provisions are specified.

We are grateful that you are considering putting GLIDE in your will or trust. Your extraordinary gift to the GLIDE Foundation will enable you to have a lasting impact on the lives of community members who are in need of critical services to help them survive and thrive.

The below information is specific to the GLIDE Foundation. Want to make your bequest to Glide Memorial Church? Please either click here, email legacygiving@GLIDE.org, or call Planned Giving at 415-674-6186 for tax identification information and sample bequest language to make a gift to the church.

Below is suggested language to share with your estate planning attorney.

Sample Language

There are two types of bequests for you to consider: specific or residual:

A specific bequest is an outright gift of an asset such as cash, a retirement plan, an IRA, property or stock. It’s easy to name GLIDE as a beneficiary in your estate:

I give, devise and bequeath to the GLIDE Foundation, a state of California nonprofit corporation, tax ID #94-1156481, located at 330 Ellis St., San Francisco, CA 94102,

Choose one:

  1. the sum of $___________.
  2. __________% of my estate.
  3. __________ shares of stock in ________________Company. Or
  4. my real property commonly known as _________________.

A residual bequest comes to us after your specific bequests and estate expenses are paid.

I give, devise and bequeath to the GLIDE Foundation, a state of California nonprofit corporation, tax ID #94-1156481, located at 330 Ellis St., San Francisco, CA 94102, all the residue of my estate, including real personal property or ___% of my estate.

When you place a specific or residual bequest in your will or living trust and notify GLIDE, we will invite you to become a member of our Cecil & Jan Legacy Circle.

If you have named GLIDE in your will or trust, please let us know! However, if you prefer to remain anonymous, we will keep your name and gift in strict confidence.
